In early 2017, there had been a fatal shooting in a mosque in Québec City, Québec. The killer, named as Alexander Bissonnette, had apparently been anxious that his family would become victims of a terror attack and when he learned that the Canadian government would allow more refugees into the country, he became triggered. Enraged, he carried out the mass shooting that killed 6 muslims in their place of worship. This shows us the effects of stereotypes and prejudices becoming racisms that becomes acts of terrorism. The killer was filled with all these racist thoughts and ideologies that affected the whole nation. After the night of this shooting, Canadians all came together and came to the realization that Canada isn’t such a perfect country, that racism still exists here and that we must do something to end it.
